S2E14: Dallas Seavey
There aren’t many people in the world and that live and think like Dallas Seavey. The 4-time Iditarod Champion understands the mind of a sled dog better than most people understand their spouses or children. That’s because Dallas worked with that dog’s parents, its grandparents and in some cases, it’s great-grandparents. His family has made their living racing and traveling with these incredible animals, considered some of the most finely-tuned athletes on the planet.
Coming March 6, Dallas will be at the starting line for his 12th Iditarod, prepared to race 1,000 miles from Anchorage, Alaska to the finish line in Nome. He joined me on Zoom to talk about his training, his approach and what it’s like to travel vast distances on one of the most isolated trails on the planet.
